Laos
Laos portrays the exquisite sight of
traditional Southeast Asian life. A
slowly awakening land dominated by the
mighty Mekong River, rugged tall
mountains, friendly people whose lives
are dominated by Buddhism and the
ever-present monks readily identifiable
in their brightly coloured saffron
robes.
Gilded Buddhist temples that are places
of worship rather than tour-bus stops;
thriving hill-tribe villages; primordial
monsoon forests that are being
protected. Laos' landscape pictures the
crags, waterfalls, and winding rivers of
a dreamland little touched by
modernization or mass tourism.
Language
The official language is the LAO,
but English and French are also used.
