Songkran Festival

Celebrated in April from the 13th to the 15th, Songkran marks the Thai New Year and is one of the most anticipated events in Thailand. During this vibrant festival, cities and villages across Thailand burst into life with music, traditional dance, and local foods. The highlight is the water throwing, which symbolizes washing away the bad luck and sins of the previous year, bringing in a clean start. Locals and tourists alike partake in the spirited water fights, using buckets, hoses, and water guns to douse each other.

Loy Krathong

Taking place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, typically in November, Loy Krathong is a picturesque and spiritual festival. Participants gather around lakes, rivers, and canals to release krathongs, small floating containers elaborately decorated with candles, incense, and flowers, as a tribute to the water goddess. This act symbolizes letting go of all grudges, anger, and defilements, so that one can start life afresh on a better foot. The sky is also beautified by thousands of lanterns, creating a magical atmosphere.
